SOUTH OGDEN — A semitrailer crashed into the center divider on I-84 near the mouth of Weber Canyon Monday, prompting the closure of three lanes, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at about 8:10 a.m. when the truck's driver became distracted and failed to negotiate a curve, said trooper Cameron Roden. The truck slammed into the center divider twice before the trailer detached from the cab and flipped onto its side in the westbound lanes, Roden said.

The truck came to rest in the eastbound lanes.

Roden said two Jersey barriers were displaced in the crash and will need to be reset by Utah Department of Transportation crews.

The truck driver was uninjured in the crash, Roden said. No other vehicles were involved.

Westbound traffic is using the emergency lane to bypass the crash, while eastbound traffic is using the outside travel lane. Roden said the lane closures were expected to last until about 1 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
