NFL: Week 9 recap
Top passing performance
Jay Cutler, Bears
Completed 29 of 47 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns against Arizona — but Chicago still lost, 41-21. Bears tight end Greg Olsen caught all three touchdowns but didn't have much opportunity to celebrate his big day in the end zone.
Top receiving performance
Randy Moss, Patriots
The all-pro receiver grabbed six passes from Tom Brady for 147 yards and a touchdown as the Patriots had little trouble putting away the Miami Dolphins with a 27-17 win .
Top rushing performance
Michael Turner, Falcons
Playing against the wounded Redskins, Turner ran wild, carrying the ball 18 times for 166 yards in the Falcons' 31-17 win over Washington.
Monday Night Football
Steelers at Broncos, 6:30 p.m., ESPN
The defending Super Bowl champs have rebounded well after a slow start to the season and hope to send Denver to another loss after starting the season with six straight wins. Pittsburgh needs a win to keep pace with the Bengals in the AFC North.
Quote of the week
Philip Rivers, Chargers
The link between me and Eli is always going to be there. So yeah, it's a little special. Any time you play against a team that won the Super Bowl, it's fun.
Notable performance
Peyton Manning, Colts
Manning tied Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton for fourth in career victories (125) and became the first player in league history to throw for 40,000 yards in one decade. The Indianapolis Hall of Famer in waiting led his team to another win, this time over Houston, and coach Jim Caldwell became the NFL's first rookie coach to start 8-0 since Potsy Clark in 1931.
