The Utah State Courts will begin accepting civil case filings electronically in the 2nd Judicial District on Monday.

The program, called e-Filing, will be launched in the 3rd, 4th and 5th districts between January and March.

It is expected to cut down on the time and paperwork needed to file and process court documents, according to court administrators.

E-Filing will be available for all general civil cases but does not currently include domestic relations, small claims or probate cases. The system will automatically inform attorneys of motions filed, judicial decisions made and hearing dates that are rescheduled.

Only subscribers to the service will be able to participate.

An e-Filing guide that includes requirements for the program is available at www.utcourts.gov/efiling.
