Eddie Wide did it again.

The junior became the first player in University of Utah football history to rush for 100 yards in six consecutive games. He finished with a career-high 145 yards in the Utes' 45-14 win over New Mexico on Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

"The record is a big deal. But right now I'm worried about the season. The main thing is the season right now," Wide said. "I'll look back at the record when we are done."

Wide entered the game tied with three others — Carl Monroe (1982), Mike Anderson (1998) and Darrell Mack (2007) — posting five straight 100-yard games in their career.

"That's a nice accolade for Eddie," said Utah coach Kyle Whittingham, who noted that Wide's play has been the most important facet of the offense during the Utes' six-game win streak.

"I'm not scared," he said after explaining that he'll spend a lot of time breaking down film this week while getting prepared. "... We're excited for the game we have coming up against a good team."

TWO REACH 100: Wide and SausanShakerin became the first Utah duo to top 100 yards in the same game since Mack and MattAsiata did it last year at AirForce. Wide netted 145 and Shakerin finished with exactly 100, both career highs.

"Tonight was exactly what we needed from a rushing standpoint. We ran as we knew we could," said left tackle ZaneBeadles. "We still need to work on being consistent and finishing strong. But overall, we did well tonight.

FUMBLE-ITIS: The Utes' inability to hold on to the football surfaced again Saturday night, as they fumbled the ball five times. However, luckily for them, they only lost one, on a botched snap midway through the fourth quarter that ShakySmithson failed to fall on.

"We put the ball on the carpet five times, but fortunately we lost only one," Whittingham said.

The five fumbles bring the Utes' total to 29 on the year, with 10 of them lost. The Utes also had one interception by JordanWynn in the first quarter.

"That's something that's been an issue for us all year," Whittingham said. "If we turn the ball over next week, we have no chance of winning."
