ROY — A 9-year-old boy was shot as he walked with his grandfather down the street of a mobile-home park Saturday afternoon.

The shot was fired from inside a home near 3800 South and 1900 West in the Monte Vista Mobile Home Park, Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said. The shotgun blast sailed through a window and struck the child just before 5 p.m.

The boy suffered multiple injuries from the blast, Whinham said.

The boy was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden and later flown to Primary Children's Medical Center. He was in critical condition.

Police were questioning a 28-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
