Eagle Mountain mayor re-elected
EAGLE MOUNTAIN — By the slimmest of margins, Heather Jackson became the first Eagle Mountain mayor to win re-election.
After city officials counted 71 provisional ballots Thursday afternoon, Jackson emerged with a 33-vote advantage over challenger Regan Bolli.
Election results won't be final, however, until Nov. 11, when the city conducts its official canvass of the election.
"It's nice to have that kind of final tally," Jackson said. "I think it's a reflection on the maturity of the city. I think that the voters are saying, 'We like the stable nature of the community that we have had over the last four years.' "
Prior to Jackson's election in 2007, the city had experienced a revolving door in the mayor's office, with seven mayors and three mayors pro tem serving during the city's first 10 years.
Jackson received 928 votes to 895 for Bolli, with 22 percent of registered voters casting a ballot.
