THE BOX — Cameron Diaz and James Marsden are tempted by fate in this science-fiction thriller. To be reviewed next week, running time: 115 minutes, PG-13 (violence)

A CHRISTMAS CAROL — ★★ — An unengaging adaptation that has nothing really new to say in regards to the already much-told tale. Running time: 96 minutes, PG (violence, vulgarity, slurs, mild profanity)

COCO BEFORE CHANEL — ★★★ — Audrey Tautou is as winning as ever as French designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. French with subtitles, running time: 110 minutes, PG-13 (vulgarity, sex, slurs, mild profanity, nude artwork)

THE FOURTH KIND — ★½ — An unconvincing alien abduction tale that strains credibility and tests our patience. Running time: 98 minutes, PG-13 (violence, profanity, brief sex, brief gore, slurs, brief drugs, vulgarity)

GENTLEMEN BRONCOS — ★★ — Another slacker-doofus comedy, this one with an unfortunate obsession with scatological humor. Running time: 90 minutes, PG-13 (vulgarity, violence, profanity, drugs, slurs)
