SkyWest Airlines and AirTran Airways are teaming up to offer flights from Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport to six cities, St. George-based SkyWest announced Wednesday.

The companies will operate the flights on five, 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 planes. The cities are Akron/Canton, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; Indianapolis; Pittsburgh; and St. Louis.

SkyWest already has flights from Milwaukee to Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and St. Louis. The partnership with Atlanta-based AirTran will increase the frequency of flights to those cities.

The new flights to St. Louis and Pittsburgh begin Dec. 4. New flights to other cities begin in January and early February.

Revenue from the flights will be shared between the two companies on a prorated basis.

Shares of SkyWest's parent company, SkyWest Inc., closed at $14.01 Wednesday, down 30 cents. During the past year, the stock price has ranged from $8.17-$19.25.

Shares of AirTran's parent company, AirTran Holdings Inc., closed at $4.13, down 12 cents. During the past year, the price has ranged $2.44-$8.68.
