Utah St. football: Aggies grab another in-state recruit
Utah State's football program continues to collect commitments, especially from in-state players. On Wednesday, Cottonwood offensive lineman Taani Fisilau said he will be an Aggie on national signing day.
Fisilau, listed at 6-foot-2 and 285 pounds, has helped the Colts' running game be a force this season. He is Utah State's ninth in-state commit and 11th overall for its 2010 signing class.
Fisilau, a guard, said he picked Utah State because he wanted to be a part of the excitement currently around the program and USU first-year head coach Gary Andersen. He talked about making the commitment with his family and decided Utah State was the right choice.
"I thought it would be nice to be a part of something new," Fisilau said. "It has a new coaching staff and it's a place that's going to be great in the future."
Utah State was the only program that had offered Fisilau so far, but schools such as Utah, BYU, Georgia and Oklahoma State had shown some interest in him, according to rivals.com.
"I'm excited for the kid," said Cottonwood coach Cecil Thomas. "It's a really good fit for him and for Utah State. He'll be a really good player up there."
