Teenager Tasered by St. George police
ST. GEORGE — A 15-year-old boy who police say resisted arrest on Halloween experienced the force of a Taser.
Police arrived after midnight on a call that four teenage boys were running around someone's yard and causing mischief.
One of the teenagers ran off and when caught by police, put up a fight and tried to kick out the back windows of a police car, said St. George Police Sgt. Tyler Cowan.
"He had to be restrained further, but when we took him out of the car he kept trying to kick officers," Cowan said.
Police hit the boy with a dry-stun Taser, which has localized pressure, in his right thigh.
"He complied at that point," Cowan said. "He was still mouthy but not trying to break things."
The boy was taken to the Washington County detention facility on suspicion of interfering with arrest, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault by a prisoner, criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The boy's 18-year-old brother also was arrested on similar charges and booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility.
The other two teenage boys were detained and then released to their parents.
