2 men charged in burglary, kidnapping
Two men were charged with aggravated burglary and kidnapping after allegedly holding a woman at knifepoint and then abandoning her at the Salt Flats.
Robert Thompson, 30, and Mark Devone Leavitt, 35, arrived at a woman's house near 700 South and 800 East, entered and forced her to go with them in a car, according to charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court. Leavitt placed his arm around the woman's neck, forced her into the backseat of a car and placed a knife to her throat, the charges state.
The woman said she was held by her hair as the two men drove out to the Salt Flats
Upon arriving, Leavitt pulled the woman out of the car and told her to start walking. But when she fell into a nearby ditch, prosecutors say Leavitt grabbed her by the hair and cut some of it off. He handed the woman her hair, saying it was "her second chance" and not to tell anyone what happened, according to the charges. The men drove away, leaving the woman by herself.
Leavitt and Thompson were each charged with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies.
