In the final health-care-reform bill coming out of the U.S. Congress, the Democrats have included a public option, essentially a Trojan horse or a Pandora's box, for a future government-run single-payer system.
As much as the government would like us to believe that we need a government insurance option to compete with private insurers and drive down the costs, it would eventually kill competition and result in a government takeover of the medical industry.
What the public option would do is to cause people to become more dependent on the federal government to take care of them, at our expense.
