LAYTON — Police are looking for an armed man who they believe robbed a clothing store Tuesday.
Police were called to X-Zone Clothing, 2146 N. Main, about 1 p.m., after receiving a call from a lone female clerk who said she had been robbed at gunpoint, said Layton Police Lt. Quinn Moyes. A man had entered the store wearing blue jeans, a dark hoodie with "some white spots or some kind of design on it," and something on his face that concealed everything but his eyes, Moyes said.
The clerk told police that the man had pointed a handgun at her, holding it in a "gangster type" horizontal position. He demanded money from the cash register, and the woman gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, Moyes said.
The man left the store heading west in an older model white pickup truck, possibly a Toyota, that was low to the ground and had no shell. No shots were fired, and there were no injuries, Moyes said.
Layton police are asking those with any information on the man, described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 180 pounds and having an "Hispanic accent", to call 801-497-8300.
