"JASPER'S KITCHEN COOKBOOK: Italian Recipes and Memories from Kansas City's Legendary Restaurant," by Jasper J. Mirabile, Jr., Andrews McMeel Publishing, $19.99 (paperback)

A collection containing more than 100 enduring and endearing recipes from Jasper's, a beloved family-run restaurant in Kansas City since 1954. The cookbook is also filled with stories and photos from the Mirabile family, chronicling the history of their restaurants.

"BUBBY'S BRUNCH COOKBOOK: Recipes and Menus From New York's Favorite Comfort Food Restaurant," by Ron Silver with Rosemary Black, Random House, $30 (hardback)

Brunch is no longer just for the weekends. The cookbook contains nearly 200 recipes from Bubby's, the famed New York destination restaurant, and it includes 20 menus for holidays with suggestions on how to throw an inexpensive and stylish celebration.

"GLUTEN-FREE ITALIAN: Over 150 Irresistible Recipes without Wheat — From Crostini to Tiramisu," by Jacqueline Mallorca, Da Capo Press, $18.95 (paperback)

Mallorca, an experienced cookbook author who can no longer tolerate gluten, has written a cookbook for lovers of Italian food. It includes such recipes as bruschetta, Gorgonzola Ravioli with Asparagus Sauce, Chocolate-Walnut Torta, and even a recipe for fresh pasta made with rice flour. Also included is a gluten-free shopping guide, cooking tips, Italian pantry staples, a glossary of alternative grains and flours, and mail-order sources.

"CAKE KEEPER CAKES: 100 Simple Recipes for Extraordinary Bundt Cakes, Pound Cakes, Snacking Cakes and Other Good-to-the-Last-Crumb Treats," by Lauren Chattman, Taunton Press, $17.95 (paperback)

Lauren Chattman was given a cake keeper from her family and since then, it has been her mission to keep a cake in it at all times. In addition to the recipes, which promise that you can bake a cake in the space between homework and dinner time, she also includes tips and techniques on cake-baking equipment, stocking the pantry, greasing pans and storing the cakes.

"MOTHER'S BEST: Comfort Food That Takes You Home Again," by Lisa Schroeder with Danielle Centoni, Taunton Press, $28 (hardback)

Lisa Schroeder, chef and owner of Mother's Bistro & Bar in Portland, Ore., has created a Mother of the Month (M.O.M.) menu, where she celebrates original recipes from a different mother each month. From that experience comes this cookbook containing 150 favorites from Mother's Bistro and Bar that celebrates mothers and their cuisine from around the world.
