Many opportunities to share time, talents
Here are some ways to share your time and talents with others provided by the 2-1-1 Information and Referral, 1025 S. 700 West. For more information, go to www.211ut.org.
Division of Juvenile Justice Services: Volunteers are needed for the first three weeks of November. Help youths with a Festival of Trees entry. Come once a week and work with at-risk youths to crochet snowflakes.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah: Male volunteers are urgently needed, ages 18 and over, to help a little brother (6 to 17 years old) experience having another caring adult to do things with. Volunteers commit to a minimum of one year of visits with their little brother two to four times per month. Must have a valid Utah driver's license, current auto insurance, pass a background check and complete a 90-minute interview.
Karing for Utah Kids: Volunteers needed to make any type of blanket/quilt that can be sold to raise money for the children the group supports.
Davis Head Start/Early Head Start: Help a Head Start child learn to read. Make a difference in the life of a disadvantaged child by assisting the teachers in helping the child learn to read, write and develop fundamental skills that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. All volunteers are required to go through a 30- to 45-minute volunteer orientation. Must be at least 18 years old and enjoy spending time with young children.
Safe Harbor Domestic Violence Crisis Center: Volunteers serve as an integral part of the shelter's day-to-day activities and functions. On-site training is provided.
American Lung Association in Utah: Help with local health fairs at various businesses, universities and events to promote lung health and the services offered by the American Lung Association in Utah. Asthma school advocates are also needed to promote resources and programs in schools.
The Accessible Homes Foundation Requirements: Volunteers are needed to serve on the board of directors and serve in other areas. Volunteers must be able to attend board meetings and donate at least four to 10 hours a month.
