2 accused of kidnapping woman

Two men were charged with aggravated burglary and kidnapping after allegedly holding a woman at knifepoint and then abandoning her at the Salt Flats.

Robert Thompson, 30, and Mark Devone Leavitt, 35, arrived at a woman's house near 700 South and 800 East, entered and forced her to go with them in a car, according to charging documents filed in 3rd District Court on Monday. Leavitt allegedly placed his arm around the woman's neck, forced her into the backseat of a car and placed a knife to her throat, documents state.

The woman was held by her hair as the two men drove out to the Salt Flats, documents state.

Upon arriving, Leavitt pulled the woman out of the car and told her to start walking. But when she fell into a nearby ditch, Leavitt grabbed her by the hair and cut some of it off, documents state. He handed the woman her hair, saying it was "her second chance" and not to tell anyone what happened, according to charging documents.

The men drove away, leaving the woman by herself, documents state.

Leavitt and Thompson were each charged with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies.

Bail was set at $250,000 for each man.
