The Utah Highway Patrol made more than 100 arrests in statewide DUI blitz Saturday night.
Mindful that having Halloween fall on Friday or Saturday typically means 40 percent more alcohol-related motor vehicle fatalities, UHP was out in force with more than 200 troopers on the road.
They arrested 100 people on suspicion of driving under the influence, plus nine for the presence of metabolite, 13 others on alcohol-related driving restrictions and two for interlock violations, UHP said in a news release.
There were 1,792 vehicles stopped during the blitz.
UHP officials said the blitz was a success because there were no alcohol-related fatalities statewide, no alcohol-related crashes in the Salt Lake County area and no crashes at all from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
