Many opportunities to share time and talents available

Here are some ways to share your time and talents with others provided by the 2-1-1 Information and Referral, 1025 S. 700 West. For more information, go to www.211ut.org.

Salt Lake County Aging Services, Healthy Aging Program — Medically trained volunteers are needed to assist with monthly health screenings and flu shots in November. Volunteer opportunities also are available to teach healthy behaviors to older adults to prevent or decrease health problems, or to teach English and communication skills to older adults.

Ronald McDonald House — Volunteers are needed to make lunches, put together care packets for rooms and put away donations. Volunteers must be willing to make a six-month commitment to three-hour weekly shifts. A background check is required.

Legacy Village of Taylorsville — Opportunities are available for interacting with residents while assisting with activities or providing senior companionship. Activities may include, cooking classes, bingo, arts and crafts, games, physical activities, outings and parties. Volunteers could read to senior, play games, attend activities and take residents for walks or strolls.

Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome Foundation — Help is needed in copying, collating, assembling and mailing information packets.

The Community Food Co-op Of Utah — Assistance needed in warehouse and office including, frozen food sorting and bagging.

LifePath Hospice and Family Care — Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of jobs, including interpretation and translation, oral history and life review, bereavement follow-up aftercare support and reading to hospice patients.

The Accessible Homes Foundation Requirements — Volunteers are needed to serve on the board of directors and serve in other areas. Volunteers must be able to attend board meetings and donate at least four to 10 hours a month.

Utah Food Bank — Volunteers are needed Saturday, Nov. 7 for a Fall Leaf Haul, raking yards of senior citizens throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Volunteers must provide their own rakes and gloves.

American Lung Association in Utah — Help out at local health fairs at various businesses, universities, and events to promote lung health and the services offered by the American Lung Association in Utah. Asthma school advocates are also needed to promote resources and programs in schools.
