5A PLAYOFFS

PLEASANT GROVE 36, RIVERTON 21: Pleasant Grove survived a first-round scare against Riverton behind running back Jeff Harris, who racked up 193 yards on the ground with two touchdowns. Tua Laei had 201 total yards and one score in the loss for the Silverwolves.

DAVIS 28, WEST 7: Tanner Hinds found the end zone three times, including an 81-yard run, and rushed for 191 yards on 28 carries to lead the Darts. Tana Afeaki finished the season with 1184 yards rushing on 191 carries while Anetipa Vaisagano had 815 yards on 113 attempts for the Panthers. Tonga Angilau led West with 57 tackles on the season while Sage Richardson had 54, Solakai Pulu had 52, and David Solomon had 48.

HUNTER 24, WEBER 20: La'au Tanuvasa carried the ball 29 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wolverines. His brother, Fausia Tanuvasa, had a 50-yard touchdown run for the team's other touchdown as the Region 2 co-champions advance in the 5A state playoffs.

LONE PEAK 27, WEST JORDAN 6: The Lone Peak defense intercepted the Jaguars six times en route to the 21-point victory. Ryan Savage led the Knights' offense with two touchdown receptions, including a 75-yard score to get the Knights on the board early.

COTTONWOOD 23, VIEWMONT 7: Viewmont was able to stop the Colts on fourth and goal, however, the Vikings were unable to capitalize on the ensuing position, allowing Cottonwood to take control of the game.

ALTA 38, FREMONT 14: Taylor Eyring gained 99 yards on 18 carries while Bryan Finnerty rushed for 80 yards and capped the game off with a two-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Jordan Brown was 18-for-26 with 219 yards through the air with 55 yards on the ground as the Hawks totaled 253 rushing yards. Alta dominated in the second half of their first round playoff win. Beaver Ho-Ching nabbed his first interception of the season while Rhett Sandlin picked a pass at the 1-yard line and returned it 36 yards when Fremont was on the move. QB Brody Garr was 21-of-35 for 216 yards, leading a solid Silver Wolf effort.

SYRACUSE 31, SKYLINE 7: Syracuse forced five turnovers and held the Eagles to just one score as the Titans rolled. Tanner Russell accounted for all four Syracuse touchdowns and rushed for 115 yards in the win. Skyline fullback Alge Brown was injured in the first quarter and did not return.
