The Weber-Morgan Health Department is asking patrons to use a new telephone number to schedule an appointment for H1N1 immunizations.
Callers should dial 801-399-7288 on Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m. to schedule an appointment for the current week. The number of appointments is set based on the quantity of vaccine the health department receives each week.
"We have found that people are generally happy with the change to an appointment system and not having to wait in a line to get vaccinated," says Gwen Hadley, who coordinates the busy clinics. "We are making this change so we can focus on the H1N1 clients and our other clinic services we offer throughout the day."
The department will resume its mass vaccination clinics when larger shipments of vaccine arrive.
For more information on the H1N1 virus and vaccine availability, go to: www.webermorganhealth.org, or call the flu hotline at 801-399-8814 or 2-1-1.
