PROVO — Officials at Brigham Young University announced Friday they'll raise tuition rates by 3 percent for the 2010-11 school year.

Tuition will increase for undergraduates from $2,145 to $2,210, or $65 each semester. Graduate student rates will increase by $80 each semester to $2,790. Students enrolled in the law school or the graduate school of management will pay $150 more each semester, or $5,140.

The increase also will be applied to rates for students who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns the school. Non-Mormons pay twice the listed tuition rates.

University spokeswoman Carri Jenkins said the increase is tied to a rise in educational costs related to the economic downturn.
