WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Sophomore Whitney Nilson was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 26-29.

Over a two-game period, Nilson connected on 22 kills along with 27 digs to lead the Bruins over Western Wyoming and Snow College. In a five-set thriller against Snow College, Nilson finished with a season-high 15 kills and 16 digs.

Salt Lake Community College (24-6, 7-1 SWAC) is currently ranked No. 5 in the NJCAA national polls and is in a two-way tie atop the SWAC Conference.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: At Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, (25-6, 8-1 SWAC) team clinched the Region 18 Championship tonight handing No. 1 North Idaho (26-5, 7-2 SWAC) their fifth loss of the season. The Bruins took out the number one ranked team in four sets 25-20, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-16. Salt Lake now earns the right to host the Region 18 tournament and receives the No. 1 seed.

Hitter Shelbi Zaldain led the Bruins with 16 kills, two service aces and four blocks. Lakell Havens had her best service game of the season finishing with a season high six aces along with 10 kills. Setter Catalina Charry had 41 sets and defensively Whitney Nilson had 13 digs.

Salt Lake CC will host the Region 18 Tournament starting on Nov. 6.
