A West Jordan woman has been charged with aggravated arson for allegedly convincing local teenagers to start a house fire.

Witness statements said that Judy James, 42, allegedly bought matches, lighter fluid and paper towels and handed the supplies over to two juveniles, instructing them to start a fire at a house at 3836 W. Country Drive in Salt Lake County, according to documents filed Thursday in 3rd District Court.

Court documents also state the defendant admitted to two witnesses that she was responsible for the fire occurring.

James was charged with one count of aggravated arson, a first-degree felony. Bail was set at $10,000.
