WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Wolverines host South Dakota today in their final tune-up heading into next week's Great West Conference Tournament at NJIT in Newark, New Jersey.
It's Senior Day with six players being honored prior to the game for their careers at UVU. It's also autograph day and after the game, fans can get autographs from all of the Wolverine players.
The Wolverines (5-10-1, 4-0-1) wrapped up the GWC West Division title in Monday's 3-2 win over Houston Baptist and remain the only undefeated team in conference play.
UVU, the top seed in the West, will face Delaware State in one of four quarterfinal matches of the single-elimination tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 6. A win would move the Wolverines into the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 7. The championship match is scheduled for Nov. 9 at noon (MT). NJIT is the top seed in the East Division and will face North Dakota in its opener.
In Monday's win over Houston Baptist, Utah Valley built a 3-0 halftime lead before the Huskies made a late charge to get within a goal. Nicole Archibald, Adrienne Schneider and Kelly Vide all scored for the Wolverines, who allowed just one shot on goal in the first half before HBU scored twice on four shots on goal in the second half.
South Dakota (4-9-1, 2-2-0) has two games remaining and must beat UVU and tie Houston Baptist or it will end up as the No. 3 seed in the West and face the No. 2 seed in the East to open the GWC Tournament.
The Wolverines defeated South Dakota, 3-0, on Oct. 11 in Vermillion, S.D.
