The Granite School District has made commendable efforts to inform the public concerning what will actually happen if the Nov. 3 bond proposal passes. Unfortunately, part of the literature distributed by the Granite District is misleading, and the actual ballot will not provide some necessary information that voters need to know.
The district states that if the bond passes, five schools will be rebuilt. The schools will actually be torn down and then replaced with new buildings given the same names. The five schools proposed to be torn down are Oakwood Elementary, Woodstock Elementary, Hartvigsen School, Granger High School and Olympus High — the oldest operating high school in the district. How ironic that 3 1/2 years of social studies are required by the district for graduation, and yet our own historical heritage is being considered for demolition.
