The Utah Highway Patrol will conduct a statewide DUI blitz Halloween night to take drunken drivers off the streets and hopefully make the evening safer for trick-or-treaters.

Troopers will be out in force Saturday. Currently 232 troopers have signed up to participate, but the UHP said it expects more to sign up within the next few days.

Since 2006, law enforcement agencies throughout Utah have made a total of 974 DUI arrests between Oct. 25 and Oct. 31.
