WIND GAP, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania court records show a New Jersey priest spoke about firing the janitor who was later accused of killing him because of a problem with a criminal background check.

They say the Rev. Edward Hinds told the principal of St. Patrick School in Chatham he might "let go" 64-year-old Jose Feliciano because his employment record indicated he hadn't passed the check. The conversation occurred a day before authorities say Feliciano stabbed the priest 32 times in the church rectory. Hinds' body was found the next day.

The records, filed in district court in Wind Gap, Pa., reveal the results of a police search of Feliciano's home in Easton, Pa. They were first reported by The Star-Ledger of Newark.

Feliciano is due in court in Morristown, N.J., Thursday.
