Utah Jazz: Korver has surgery on his ailing left knee
DENVER — Jazz shooting guard Kyle Korver had the bone spur removed from his ailing left knee today in what general manager Kevin O'Connor described as "successful arthroscopic surgery" in New York.
No timeline on Korver's return was given, but O'Connor said the Jazz will have a better idea on Nov. 9. Utah plays in New York that day, and Korver will travel with the team to be reevaluated.
Korver will return to Utah to begin the rehabilitation process as soon as he feels well enough to travel.
"On Nov. 9, I think we'll have a better feel," O'Connor said Wednesday at the Pepsi Center while the Jazz were going through shoot-around practice in preparation for tonight's season-opener.
Korver missed all but 14 minutes of one preseason game this fall because of an inflamed left knee. After rest was prescribed initially, the Jazz and Korver decided he needed another medical opinion by a New York doctor. A bone spur was discovered and it was deemed that Korver needed surgery.
"It's about what they expected," O'Connor said of the procedure.
Utah plays Denver tonight at 8:30 in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPN. The Jazz will also be without last year's starting small forward, C.J. Miles, who had surgery two weeks ago to repair the ruptured tendon in his left thumb.
Combo guard Ronnie Price (strained left hamstring) is a game-time decision.
Only 11 Jazz players traveled for tonight season-opener, including Price.
