Utah State football: Ags land 2 more commitments
Utah State's 2010 recruiting class continues to grow. According to a source close to the Aggies, two more high school stars have committed to join Utah State next season.
One, Nevin Lawson, is a cornerback from Piper High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., while the other has a name fairly familiar to college football fans in the state.
Jeremy Higgins, the younger brother of Weber State star quarterback Cameron Higgins, also gave USU coach Gary Andersen a verbal commitment.
Higgins, the quarterback at Hawaii's St. Louis High, will join his brother in the Beehive State next season. He told the Honolulu Star Bulletin he was being recruited by Hawaii, Colorado and Boston College.
Lawson, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has played multiple positions for his high school but will be a cornerback at Utah State.
"He's a fierce competitor and he'll be able to bring a lot of speed with him," Piper High coach Matthew Lewis told the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinal. "He also has a knack for the football. This year, he's run the ball for us, he returns on special teams, plays defensive back and has scored from everywhere you can think of."
Lewis said Lawson also had scholarship offers Western Michigan, Buffalo and Duke.
Higgins' a 6-2 left-hander, is the second high school quarterback to give Andersen a commitment. Jordan High's Alex Hart committed to Utah State last week.
