Discovery Gateway children's museum, 444 W. 100 South in Salt Lake City, will host its second annual "Mayoral Pumpkin Carve-off" from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday as a preview to the museum's family-friendly Halloween Spooktacular activities.
Mayors Peter Corroon and Ralph Becker will face off, with the winner decided by Salt Lake's youngest voters-to-be — the museum guests.
From noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, the museum will host an entire day of non-scary activities — from pumpkin painting and decorating a trick-or-treat bag to a magic show and costume parade — for its Halloween Spooktacular celebration.
