WEST VALLEY CITY — It was an easy DUI arrest for a West Valley police officer early Sunday.

An officer was called to a motorist possibly needing help on 5600 West near 2800 South about 2 a.m. As he approached, he found a man slumped over his steering wheel and passed out while the car was still running and stopped in the middle of the road, said West Valley Police Capt. Tom McLachlan.

The doors were locked, so the officer broke out the rear window to reach the man. The 20-year-old driver, who just prior to the officer arriving had been throwing up inside his car, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of DUI.
