Weber St.'s Lewis honored by Big Sky

Weber State defensive back Thyrell Lewis was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Monday by the Big Sky Conference.

Eastern Washington quarterback Matt Nichols and Northern Arizona kicker Matt Myers won the Big Sky's offensive and special teams awards.

Lewis, a 5-9, 175-pound senior from Hawthorne, Calif., tallied five tackles, two pass breakups and a game-clinching interception in the Wildcats' 28-20 road victory over Northern Colorado. With Weber State up

28-20 late in the fourth quarter, Lewis stepped in front of a Bryan Waggener pass and returned it 15 yards to the Northern Colorado 18-yard line. This is Lewis' first Player of the Week award.
