Traditional fall events like football games, trick-or-treating and bobbing for apples are good ways to spread the flu, say some experts.

How to avoid it? Never share drinks, says Dr. Dele Davies, chairman of pediatrics for the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University.

Be careful about bobbing for apples, which might spread the flu if multiple mouths are dunking in the same vessel.

And, as for trick-or-treating, the best way to avoid hand-to-hand contact, which could transfer long-living viruses from sick to healthy people, is to have people drop candy directly into open bags, Davies says.
