Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Bridgewater is aiming to campaign in 29 counties in 29 days.

He began that effort on Monday with an appearance in Nephi, Juab County. Other first-week visits are scheduled for Tooele, Beaver, Millard, Sevier, Sanpete, Piute and Wayne counties.

His campaign plans to post updates of his schedule on his Web site, www.timbridgewater.com.

Bridgewater said such campaigning shows he seeks a "passionate and organized grass-roots electorate desperate for a change in the direction our country is heading," instead of a campaign with "an establishment candidate with endorsements from high and mighty Republicans."

Bridgewater is seeking to unseat Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah. Other Republicans in the race include Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, businesswoman Cherilyn Eagar and small businessman James Russell Williams III. Democrat Sam Granato also is in the race.
