SANDY — A woman shot herself after a party in Sandy early Sunday, police said. Police had not determined whether the shooting was accidental.

The 29-year-old went to a friend's house near 8400 South and 1275 East after a party, where police say she had been drinking. The woman "was able to get a gun" from the house and shot herself in the face around 3:45 a.m., Sandy Police Sgt. Steve Christensen said.

The victim was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in "very critical" condition, Christensen said.

Police didn't know the woman's condition Sunday evening. The incident is under investigation.
