WEST VALLEY CITY — A construction worker from Utah County died after a hit-and-run accident on I-215 near 3300 South, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.
Witnesses say a blue and white, possibly Dodge pick-up truck, traveling south on I-215 swerved into a lane blocked off with construction barrels about 7:45 p.m. and hit the man, then fled the scene, UHP Lt. Steve Winward said.
UHP identified the man as 20-year-old Brayden Beddoes. He was alive when police arrived but died on scene before a helicopter could fly him out.
Beddoes was employed as a temporary worker for A-Core construction that was working on the project in the area, UHP reported.
UHP are asking anyone who has information on the truck, which they say should have extensive damage, to contact them at 801-887-3800 at anytime or 801-284-5500 during business hours.
Two lanes had been shut down for construction work and a third lane was shut down following the incident and was backed up to 2100 South.
