I love Halloween just as much as the next person — the tricks and the treats. It's a time to get dressed up and howl into the evening. Invitations to murder mystery, costume parties flood the inboxes. With the Day of Ghosts just around the corner, I've started asking friends for costume suggestions. I asked James, \"Got any good costume ideas?\"\"As long as you're wearing a costume, you should be fine.\"Unsure whether or not he understood my question, I asked again, \"Yeah, but what should I be?\"\"Wear clothes. I've been to too many Halloween parties where people show up in lingerie or boxers.\"James was being a little extreme in his remark, but it made me laugh. I knew what he was talking about. He proceeded to pontificate, \"It's like people are trying to dance with the devil, and walk on the strait and narrow.\"\"So I take it, you're not going to any Halloween parties?\"\"No, I'm going to a few. But, I ain't gettin' a girl's number if she's wearing less than a t-shirt and shorts.\" Every year we all face the costume dilemma. We want to turn heads and be the best-dressed person at the party. For LDS singles, that means we need be a little more creative than the average costume designer. James and I concluded our conversation, and he reminded me that Halloween is a perfect opportunity to be in the world, just not of the world.
