WEST JORDAN — A 12-year-old boy was injured Saturday when police say he ran out from behind a parked backhoe into the path of a car.
The accident occurred near 7100 South and 1300 West at about 6:30 p.m., said West Jordan police officer Adam Horman. The section of the street where the child was hit was dark, Horman said.
The boy, who was thrown up onto the car's windshield, was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition. Horman said the boy was conscious at the scene and able to answer questions from emergency responders.
The crash remains under investigation. No citation has been issued.
