SUU campus briefs
WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Thunderbirds were able to put shots on goal, but the shots were not able to find the back of the net as the Thunderbirds fell 2-0 to North Dakota State on Friday afternoon. The loss drops SUU to 3-11-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the Summit League, while the Bison move to 8-6-2 and 5-1-0 in conference play.
The T-Birds recorded the first two shots of the game as Makell Southworth and Riley Bassett cracked shots on goal in the first and third minute, but NDSU keeper Kalani Bertsch was able to get her hands to the ball to make the save each time. Southworth finished the game leading Southern Utah in shots with six, including five on goal.
North Dakota State was able to capture the victory with goals in each half as the ball was played in each time from the left side off the foot of Quin Ryan. The Bison struck first in the 18th minute as Abbey Stratton redirected the ball with her head into the goal off a Ryan pass. The second goal came in the 55th minute as Ryan's pass from the left side found Danielle Boldenow's foot and then into the back of the net.
Southern Utah will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when the Thunderbirds travel to Brookings, S.D. to face the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. That game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.
