AMELIA — Hilary Swank plays the famous aviator in this biographical drama. Running time: 111 minutes, PG (profanity, vulgarity)

ASTRO BOY — ★★ — An animated feature cobbled together from parts of earlier, better movies. Running time: 94 minutes, PG (violence, vulgarity, brief drugs)

CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE'S ASSISTANT — ★★ — A confused muddle of a movie, based on the best-selling horror books. Running time: 108 minutes, PG-13 (violence, profanity, slurs, vulgarity, brief drugs)

SAW VI — The latest, and supposedly last installment in the "torture-porn" movie series. To be reviewed next week, running time: 90 minutes, R (violence, torture, gore, profanity)

A SERIOUS MAN ★★★½ — The Coen brothers' most thoughtful and personal film. Michael Stuhlbarg stars. Running time: 105 minutes, R (profanity, sex, nudity, violence)
