WOODS CROSS — The election for mayor of Woods Cross is already in the bag for Mayor Kent Parry, who is running unopposed.

But the election is still up in the air for the four candidates vying for two open seats on the Woods Cross City Council.

Leo Beecher, a 41-year resident of Woods Cross, is a member of the Planning Commission and has served on the city's board of adjustment and traffic-safety committee.

Beecher says he wants to maintain fiscal responsibility and sensitivity to Woods Cross residents' needs. He promises to keep an open mind, listen to concerns and study issues if elected.

Tamra Dayley, who is completing her first term on the City Council, touts successes such as the construction of a new water reservoir, the implementation of curbside recycling and tightening the city's belt during the economic crisis.

Dayley wants to continue working toward emergency preparedness and keeping careful watch over the city budget.

Jon Hadlow, a 29-year resident of Woods Cross, is seeking a third term on the council. A Bountiful police officer, Hadlow says he appreciates city budgets, growth and transportation needs. He would like to see more economic growth and development in the city, especially near the Legacy Parkway.

Ryan Westergard, 38, has gotten to know the ins and outs of Woods Cross during the past seven years on the Planning Commission and as a member of the committee to update the city's general plan.

As a controller, Westergard says he understands the financial and operational sides of an organization.
