UTAH STATE PRISON — A prison inmate was stabbed Wednesday evening and was transported to a local hospital along with his injured cellmate, a Department of Corrections spokesman said.
A fight broke out between the two men in the Uintah facility about 8 p.m, prison spokesman Steve Gerhke said.
Officials are trying to determine where the fight occurred and the type of tool or weapon used in the stabbing. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's office will investigate the incident.
Officials said the injuries do not appear life threatening and the most injured inmate is in stable condition.
In a July 2009 prison stabbing, an inmate suffered at least one puncture wound behind one of his ears.
