A man was charged with rape and sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's detectives investigated allegations of child sexual abuse and received information that Alejandro Perez-Vasquez, 33, had been raping and inappropriately touching the girl, according to court documents. The child told detectives that Perez-Vasquez threatened her not to tell anyone or she would never she see her family again, court documents state.
Perez-Vasquez is charged with six counts of rape of a child and sodomy upon a child — all first-degree felonies. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life. He was also charged with three counts of aggravated child sexual abuse, a first-degree felony, court records state.
Bail was set at $250,000.
