OGDEN — Undaunted by the political quagmire in Washington, D.C., members of Weber State University's pre-med and sociology clubs have organized a discussion with local experts, to examine the current health-care system and the proposed reforms to it.

"It is important that our future health-care providers become educated on these issues as they will one day be greatly impacted by them," said Barbara Trask, associate zoology professor and premedical program adviser at Weber State. She said she has benefited from learning more about the proposed actions and current system to help her students.

"Our goal is that each premedical student can use this information to formulate an understanding of efficient and appropriate provision of health care," Trask said.

This Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., at the Shepherd Union Building, experts will discuss the sociological environment with regards to health care, as well as the fiscal implications of reforms and how much the current system will cost the average consumer. The event is free and open to the public.
