Utah St. football: Jordan High's QB commits to Aggies
With his pedigree, Alex Hart didn't have much choice but to become an Aggie.
So when first-year Utah State coach Gary Andersen offered the record-setting quarterback from Jordan High a scholarship, Hart quickly followed his heart and his bloodlines and accepted.
"My grandfather and his brother both went to Utah State," Hart said. "And I'm pretty sure my great grandfather wrote the school fight song. So I'm pretty excited to go to Utah State."
Hart was extended the offer by Andersen after he threw for 404 yards and eight touchdowns in a victory over Taylorsville last weekend.
"I'm just so happy to get that offer," Hart said. "I really believe that coach Andersen is going to turn things around up there. He's changed it a lot already. The atmosphere up there is great and I'm just so happy to be a part of that."
Hart, 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, has passed for 3,399 yards this season to go along with 37 touchdowns. He also has more than 400 yards rushing this season.
A year ago the Beetdigger tossed the ball for 3,181 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Hart, the nation's leading high school passer according to several high school football web sites, said he is unsure if he will serve an LDS mission but will make that decision later.
