PROVO — Utah County Health Center has received more H1N1 vaccines and will be giving them out Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while supplies last.
Lance Madigan, spokesman for the center, said counties place their orders for vaccinations on Wednesdays, and it takes between two and 10 days for delivery. This time the county got its shipment in the fastest time possible and decided not to wait until its normal clinics on Thursdays and Fridays to administer the vaccinations.
Madigan said there are about 3,000 vaccines available — both injectable and nasal — at the Utah County Health and Justice Building, 151 S. University, in Provo. Since the injectable version received is the only kind licensed to be used on those under age 2, the county is only giving the injectable vaccine to 6-month to 24-month-old children and women who are pregnant. The nasal spray is available to healthy 2- to 49-year-olds.
The next vaccines are expected to be available as early as Friday but may not be available until Oct. 29.
For updates on availability, call the UCHD Health Information Line at 801-851-2222 or call 2-1-1.
