HUNTSVILLE — A 55-year-old Centerville man died Saturday after having a heart attack while mountain biking with his son, police said.

Rick Bastian was biking near Snowbasin around 11:30 a.m. when he had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest, said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Teresa Perkins. An off-duty registered nurse was able to perform CPR until medical personnel arrived, Perkins said.

Because Bastian was in a "pretty remote location" at the time, officials had to hike into the area so they could get him out on a backboard, she said. He was then transported by AirMed to Ogden Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Perkins said.
