MEN'S SOCCER: In the final exhibition of the fall season, BYU finished with a 1-1 draw against Weber State in double overtime on Friday at Provo.
"I'm quite happy with the way we played," head coach Chris Watkins said. "I'm really proud of what my guys did tonight."
BYU forward Blake Tillotson scored off a Trevor Henderson cross in the 45th minute. Weber State tied it in the 83rd minute on a Kyle Christensen free kick from 30 yards out.
It was a very physical game. BYU played down two players, 9 on 10, for the final 55 minutes. Referee Jeff Young dished out eight cards on the night (5-Weber State, 3-BYU).
SWIMMING/DIVING: After day one at the Pacific Invitational, the BYU women's swim team is on top with 413 points and the men's team in second with 427 points through event 14 at Stockton, Calif.
The women lead Oregon State in second (407.5), University of the Pacific in third (232) and Air Force in fourth (148.5). The men trail behind Air Force in first (473) and lead Pacific in third (249).
"We are where we expected to be this time of the year," said BYU head coach Tim Powers. "I was pleased with our performances. Some of our freshmen kids are doing well and making improvements with their swims."
Junior Rachel Grant won the first event for the Cougar women in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:21.25, seven seconds ahead of second place.
The BYU women took second through fifth places in the 50 freestyle with Aleesha Miller, Sara Jayne Christiansen Baldwin, Sam Crist and Kirsty Ferrell rounding it out.
Freshman Kassy Bispo took the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:05.33, a second faster than her seeded time. Baldwin was right behind her in second place with a time of 1:05.48.
Both the women's "A" and the "B" 400 freestyle relay teams were disqualified, scoring no points in that event for the Cougars.
"We had a relay DQ, so we need to do a little better job to practice some relay take offs," said Powers.
The Menezes sisters and Amy Xu swept the first three places in the mile swim with Natasha Menezes in first with a time of 17:06.69, Michelle Menezes in second at 17:19.14 and Xu in third at 17:20.01.
