Australia: Stroller scare

MELBOURNE — A 6-month-old baby has miraculously survived a train hitting his stroller, which rolled onto the tracks when his mother let go for an instant.

The escape was captured on security camera footage that shows the red, three-wheeled stroller plunging off a station platform just as the commuter train pulls in, and the mother's panicked lunge to grab it. The train pushed the stroller about 130 feet along the tracks before it stopped, but it did not go under the train. The baby, who was strapped into the stroller, received only a bump on the head.

Honduras: Deadlock

TEGUCIGALPA — Talks to resolve the Honduran political crisis deadlocked Friday over conflicting proposals for restoring ousted President Manuel Zelaya to office, dampening hopes for a resolution in internationally backed negotiations.

"The dialogue is in suspense ... until the other side adopts a reasonable stance," Zelaya said from the Brazilian Embassy, where took refuge after sneaking back into Honduras on Sept. 21. from his forced exile.

India: Fireworks fire

NEW DELHI — A blaze erupted in a fireworks warehouse in southern India, killing at least 30 people and injuring 10 others ahead of a major Hindu festival Saturday.

The victims in Friday night's explosion were mainly traders buying fireworks in bulk as millions of Hindus prepared to celebrate Deepavali, the festival of lights.

Iraq: Bomber kills 15

BAGHDAD— A suicide bomber who hid among the Sunni congregation in a northern Iraqi mosque sprayed gunfire at Muslim worshippers Friday and then blew himself up, killing at least 15 people, including the imam leading prayers, officials said.

Mexico City: Beheadings

MEXICO CITY — Mutilated bodies of nine people turned up in coastal Guerrero state, authorities said Friday, amid a spike in drug-related violence there.

The victims were beheaded, hacked to pieces and left in 18 black plastic bags in the bed of a pickup in the town of Tlapehuala, Guerrero's public safety department said. Officials said they had not identified the victims.
