FARMINGTON — The Davis Community Learning Center recently received $37,000, thanks to donations received by the annual Davis County Gala.

The gala, held each September, is a fundraising event for community groups in Davis County.

This year's beneficiary, the Davis Community Learning Center, serves thousands of children each year by empowering and supporting their parents to be engaged in their children's education.

The center is housed at Wasatch Elementary School in Clearfield and provides parents with computer, English and other adult education classes.

The center is funded through a partnership between Davis County, United Way, Davis Behavioral Health, Davis School District, Utah Parent Center and Clearfield city.

"This center is the first of its kind in Utah, and we have no doubt that it will do great things for needy children and families in our community," said Davis Commissioner Bret Millburn in a news release.

Past gala donations have benefitted Hill Air Force Base, Davis County Children's Justice Center, initiatives to combat homelessness and Davis County arts programs.
